Our Story

My name is Rob McCormick.  I am the president of the Burquitlam Funeral Home.I am very privileged to be the second generation of the McCormick family to serve the families of the Tri-cities area.

When Burquitlam Funeral Home was incorporated, the Russian 'Sputnik' was the 1st manmade satellite, John Diefenbaker was Prime-Minister and The Beatles were a new musical group.

North Road was two narrow lanes, and there was certainly no Lougheed Mall. Our location at 625 North Road, between Cameron and Foster Streets was just a simple family home that had been built in the early 1920's by my great uncle. Now it is the geographic center of the Coquitlam - Burnaby corridor.

Where once farms flourished and the area was filled with wildlife, now business flourishes as hi-rise towers spring up everywhere. Needless to say, I am proud of what this family owned funeral home has accomplished over the decades. It gives me great personal satisfaction to see us at the forefront of our profession and constantly being singled out as an innovator.

Our entry into the twenty-first century was celebrated by a bold renovation project. As we approach the anniversary of fifty years of continuous service to the community we  honour your loved ones by offering this artistic addition to the beauty of the North Road corridor. This addition was dedicated to the community in the names of the families that have found comfort within these walls since 1964.

The McCormick family celebrated 50 years of service to the community in 2014.   By offering distinctive funeral and memorial services, our team of professionals understands the importance of a compassionate, personal approach as well as diligent attention to detail.  Funeral and memorial services are an essential part of the healing process.  We will work with you to find the most meaningful service that will pay a fitting tribute to your loved one, and will do so with the highest standard of professionalism and care.

At Burquitlam Funeral Home, we pride ourselves on our facilities and state of the art amenities, such as web-casting and on-line Book of Memories.

We also understand that grief is a journey you should not go through alone.  Our Family Care Counselor is available for aftercare bereavement support, as well as to answer questions and assist with funeral pre-planning. In order to show our ongoing support to the families we serve, Burquitlam Funeral Home offers a very popular annual Candlelight Service.

Sincerely,

Rob McCormick
